Biltmore Estate Sculpture Repairs

Continuing more than 20 years of engagement with preserving the artworks at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC, Principal and Conservator Mark Rabinowitz recently worked with the site’s in-house team to perform a number of repairs on limestone, terra cotta, and marble sculptures and architectural elements. The goals were not only to restore damages and re-adhere salvaged fragments - thus preserving these centuries old works - but to train their staff and increase their ability to carry on this work independently.
